Pukapuka Poem #11 - Michael O'Leary

Reality Dreams
Kneeling gently beside you
As you lie in the bed
Our child some way off, laughing
You smile as I stroke your hair

Running wildly, chased by a light
Through dark, off-road bush
I run stumbling through the whenua tapu
Landscape, in fear of blood and death

A lonely figure walks the city streets
Lost, looking for me, she moves onwards
A tiger in an unfamiliar landscape of
A Josephian cartoon – “Little does O’Leary know
His world is not what it seems!”
Reality is all dreams, all dreams!
